Bordering Austria and Slovakia, the region of South Moravia is home to an estimated 1,140,000 people in an area of 7196.5 km sq. Natural attractions in South Moravia include the White Carpathian Mountains, the Dyje Basin, and the protected landscape of the Moravian Karst.

Brno, the region capital, is the second largest city in the Czech Republic, behind Prague. Over 90% of the wine production in the Czech Republic takes place in South Moravia, and in recent years, high tech industry has been growing in the region, creating an attractive balance of production-based and innovative industries. The workforce has adapted to meet the demands of the diversifying economy, and technology and biotechnology incubators are also assisting the growth of computer technology, telecommunications and software development in the region.
