Pilsen is a major manufacturing hub situated on a junction of major motorways and crossed by the international expressway no. 5, connecting the city to Prague within an hour.
Home to the Pilsner Urquell, the brewery of Pilsner beer, and the Skoda Engineering Works, Pilsen is the fourth largest city in the Czech Republic.
Foreign investment has played an important role in the development of the city, which has received over twice the national average of foreign investment capital, accounting for 3.4% of the local industrial businesses in the region. In 2007, the Plaza Centers – an Israeli development corporation – opened the Pilsen Plaza.
