Key Competitive Attractions

The Moravian-Silesian region was traditionally known as the Steel Heart of the country. Since the fall of communism, these traditional industries have given way to new opportunities, however. Advantageously located on the border between Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, the Moravian-Silesian region is home to 1,251,333 people in an area of 5,445 km sq.

The Moravian-Silesian region’s capital is Ostrava, the third largest city in the Czech republic, and the business, educational and cultural capital of the North East.

Heavy industry has been replaced by a growing hi-tech industry. The ICT, electronics and automotive industries are all successful clusters in the region.
