Central Bohemia
Key Competitive Attractions
Central Bohemia is considered to be one of the most important economic regions in the Czech Republic. Situated close to the capital, the region is home to just over 1 million people, in an area of 11,015 km sq. Although Central Bohemia’s administrative centre is located in the capital of Prague, the region itself is distinct from the city.
Central Bohemia is responsible for roughly 10% of the GDP of the Czech Republic, and 20% of its exports. It is renowned as an industrial hub, and houses two major car factories, Skoda Auto, in Mlada Boleslav, and Toyota Peugeot Citroen Automobile Czech, in Kolin. There are also chemical, printing, food, ceramic and glass production facilities in Central Bohemia. This industrial development has been assisted by the establishment of industrial zones which are designed to bring in foreign investment through easier planning regulation.
