Stara Zagora Regional Development Agency
Key Competitive Attractions
Stara Zagora is an important economic centre in Bulgaria. Its administrative and industrial centre is Stara Zagora City, which is the fifth biggest city in Bulagria.
The city is also one of the oldest settlements in history, with some of the oldest and best-preservedneolithic dwellings in Europe, a major tourist attraction for the region.
Stara Zagora has been a mining region for centuries and its natural resources and copper mines provide excellent opportunities for investment projects in metals and machine building industries.
Stara Zagora is centrally located in Bulgaria, which makes it ideally placed for connections to the capital, Sofia, (2.5 hours), Burgas Port and the Black Sea (2.5 hours), Bucharest in Romania (4.5), and Edirne in Turkey, (2.5 hours).
The region’s main benefits for investors are its untapped investment potential and natural resources, ideal infrastructure and geographical position, and its competitive labour, land and production costs.
The Regional Development Agency was created to promote the region and support companies located here, to attract new investments into the area and generate new jobs.
