Existing Business Base
Belgium has always been a prosperous marketplace, benefiting from its location at the crossroads of Latin, Germanic and Anglo-Saxon influences. Hosting the EU headquarters, Belgium is a founding member of the European Union, but also of OECD and WTO, so it really punches above its weight for a small country and has developed a competitive service sector, as well as integrating easily with a globalised world.
The countries that account for most investment in Belgium are the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and the Netherlands. Investments in sales and marketing projects come top. Industry and logistics sector come second and third respectively.
Belgium's success in attracting FDI is due to a simple ethos; we make no distinction between domestic and foreign companies.
Belgian exports amount to more than 80% of the country's GDP. As a world leader in per capita exports, Belgium is a stronghold for European trade.
