Key Competitive Attractions
The POM is responsible for the socio-economic development of the Province of West Flanders. It does so by addressing the socio economic projects arising from the policy of the Province, to support and implement new business.
West Flanders enjoys a diverse economy base, with a variety of thriving sectors:
- Maritime: Close proximity to the cities of Bruges and Ostend attracts much of the North of the Province's industry to this area, benefiting from the ports of Bruges-Zeebrugge and Ostend.
- Textiles: In the South, companies include Beaulieu and Libeco-Lagae.
- Business Services: Kortrijk's surrounding area is known as the "Dallas of Belgium" for its entrepreneurial reputation.
- Tourism: Major tourist attractions include the Belgian coast, the historic city of Bruges, and the World War I battleground, Flanders Fields.
