Thales Austria upgraded

Thales, the French multinational industrial group, is upgrading its Austrian subsidiary, which will become the company's competence centre for railway signaling systems.  The Vienna-based subsidiary is now also responsible for coordinating business operations in Slovakia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Greece, Romania and Bulgaria.

ICT research to get €70 million

Already among the top three research nations in terms of the number of EU-funded projects, Austria is now set to receive €70 million for the IT and telecoms  sector. The funding is to come from a sector-specific research promotion initiative and is designed to encourage 400-500 SMEs every year to undertake research as well as commit to ongoing research.
