Korce is Albania’s sixth biggest city, home to 105,000 people (2009).
In recent years, Korce has experienced substantial growth and continues to present high amounts of investent potential, reinforced by regional authorities eager to promote and support new business in the territory. The region boasts a modern, industrial capacity, and yet still maintains its traditional commercial and agricultural centre.
Korce city is situated on a highly fertile plateau, which is Albania's main wheat-growing area. Main economic activity includes clothing and textiles and food and drink production. In addition, mining deposits of lignite coal takes place in the nearby mountains of Mborje-Drenove.

The Korce Regional Development Agency was created in 1998 to support and promote SMEs, investment projects, economic development in the region, and cross-border alliances, supporting the Prespa/Ohrid Euroregion.
