By focusing its manufacturing on green technologies and encouraging digital innovation in its cities the North East is creating a workforce with the skills to meet future needs. Automotive, wind farming and ICT are the industries driving this revolution forward.
24.3% of the region's population have achieved NVQ level 4 or above.

4,200 workers are employed at Nissan's Sunderland plant. The Sunderland plant already produces one in four cars in the UK and is the most productive car plant in Europe. A new line, producing eco-friendly cars will create 350 new jobs.
The North East is the centre for wind farming in the UK. The RDA is working to ensure there is training to create a skilled workforce for an industry set to grow.
As many as 30,000 jobs could be created as the government looks to meet its 2020 targets.
90 new digital companies have already being formed through Teeside University’s DigitalCity program. The university provides start-ups with the support and investment needed to get off the ground.
